Trekz Titanium Bone Conduction Headphones Earn Red Dot Award for Innovative Design
We're thrilled that we can finally tell the world that Trekz Titanium bone conduction headphones won the coveted Red Dot Design Award for high quality and innovative product design. As one of the world’s largest and most distinguished design competitions, participants from 57 nations submitted approximately 5,200 products and innovations for the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2016. This annual and international award recognizes an elite subset of innovative companies that developed products with distinguished design qualities unlike any other in the category. The Red Dot is a quality seal for good design and innovations, which constitutes and highlights the quality difference globally.
Trekz Titanium are wireless, open ear sport headphones built to ensure the safety and comfort of runners, cyclists, hikers and more. The backbone of the industrial design is a premium titanium frame, an element chosen not only for its strength and durability, but also for its infinite flexibility, which delivers maximum comfort, portability and the very best sound. The elite design team behind these award-winning headphones include: Dan Hu, Yi Tang, and Lei Zhong of C3 Strategy.
“Design has always been a big priority for all of our products as we strive to deliver the most innovative, safe and functional headphones in the category,” said Bruce Borenstein, president and CEO of AfterShokz. “Receiving the Red Dot product design award validates the creative investment that went into Trekz Titanium, as well as the commitment and prestige of our product development team.”
With 41 experts from all around the world, who are chosen according to strict rules, the Red Dot Award: Product Design guarantees a very high judging competence: Only freelance designers, design professors and specialised journalists – but not designers employed at companies potentially participating – are appointed to the jury.
The independent expert panel assesses each entry strictly and fairly, live and on site, according to criteria such as degree of innovation, formal quality, functionality and ecological compatibility. Professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder and president of the Red Dot Award: “With their performances, the Red Dot winners not only demonstrated an extraordinary design quality, but they also showed that design is an integral part of innovative product solutions.”
The winners of this year’s Red Dot Awards will be recognized in Essen, Germany, at the Red Dot Gala and Designers’ Night on July 4, 2016.
The award-winning products from the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2016 will also be presented in the Red Dot Museum — a special exhibition where visitors get hands-on time with the winning products. This year’s Red Dot Museum houses the largest exhibition of contemporary design worldwide, with approximately 2,000 exhibits from 45 nations spread over an area of more than 4,000 square meters.
About the Red Dot Design AwardIn order to appraise the wide scope of design in a professional manner, the Red Dot Design Award is broken down into the three distinct disciplines: the Red Dot Award: Product Design, Red Dot Award: Communication Design and Red Dot Award: Design Concept. The Red Dot Award is organised by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Essen, Germany. With more than 17,000 entries in 2015 alone, it is one of the largest competitions in the world. It was in 1955 that a jury convened for the first time to assess the best designs of the day. The name and brand of the award were developed in the 1990s by Red Dot CEO, Professor Dr. Peter Zec. Since then the sought-after “Red Dot” is the revered international seal of outstanding design quality. Further information: www.red-dot.org.
