We’re excited to bring you our monthly AfterShokz Team Spotlight! We love being able to take you behind-the-scenes of the AfterShokz HQ and share a bit more about the people that make up this extraordinary team. This month, we’re chatting with our incredibly talented Warehouse Logistics Manager, CJ Wadsworth.
AfterShokz: Give us a quick intro, CJ! Tell us about yourself and what you do at AfterShokz.
CJ: My name is CJ Wadsworth. I’m a former college (Kansas State University) and AFL professional football player who retired at the ripe old age of 27 to move into my private-sector career. I worked for five major Fortune 500 corporations before starting my time here at AfterShokz. I have 15 years of Warehouse and Logistics experience and have my Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
AfterShokz: As the Warehouse Logistics Manager, what are some of the day-to-day tasks you oversee at AfterShokz?
CJ: Every day I manage the inventory levels across all our warehouse and 3PL (third-party logistic) spaces. We are unique in that our company owns both the factory that manufactures our high-quality products and all of the brand operations, including logistics.
AfterShokz: What do you love most about working at AfterShokz and the team here?
CJ: It’s very exciting to be part of a company that is making its climb in the market. Seeing our sales and exposure grow daily, like the first time you see someone wearing the headsets “in the wild,” is a fulfilling experience. I feel like what my team and I do directly impacts things immediately, which is very different from the massive companies I worked with before. It’s like the difference of steering a speedboat versus a cruise ship.
AfterShokz: We know it's hard to choose, but which pair of AfterShokz are your favorite and why?
CJ: I know it’s easy to pick the “new hotness” but Aeropex are my favorite for one main, legitimate reason: increased flexibility. I’m a former defensive lineman, which makes me an extremely large mammal. I’ve been able to comfortably work the earpieces forward on the Titanium and Air models, but Aeropex allow me to get the transducers in exactly the right position for the best sound.
AfterShokz: We know that the AfterShokz team loves to have fun. What’s one of the craziest/funniest experiences you've had during the workday?
CJ: We have been working on ways to test out our headsets, and we now have a “game room” that has all kinds of cool Bluetooth technology to connect to. Our favorite has been hooking up to the Nintendo Switch—via a sold-separately adapter—and having some epic Super Smash Bros. and Mario Kart battles!
AfterShokz: What’s one thing the ShokzSquad would be shocked to learn about you or about AfterShokz?
CJ: Both of my parents are hearing impaired and both have had amazing experiences listening to music through their AfterShokz that is not filtered through a hearing aid. My dad, who is an unapologetic Barry Manilow Fan-i-low, especially enjoys dancing around the house listening to “Copacabana.”
Editor’s note: Bone conduction technology is not a solution for all cases of hearing loss. To try out AfterShokz, find a store with a demo unit near you here. For more information, please reach out to our team at email@example.com.
AfterShokz: What are some of your favorite hobbies and activities you enjoy while listening to your AfterShokz?
CJ: I love to swim, and using the new Xtrainerz in the pool has been a game-changer. It’s one thing to be blasting your tunes, annoying your neighbors, but you lose the mojo whenever you go underwater. With Xtrainerz, I can listen to my guilty pleasure artists, like Katy Perry, without furthering my neighbor's suspicions that I’m a weirdo.
AfterShokz: As 2019 comes to a close, what are some of your 2020 goals, both personal and for AfterShokz?
CJ: For AfterShokz, we are examining and strengthening our supply chain, examining new 3PLs, and looking to the future of becoming a technology company that offers more than just the best headphones. That means a successful and seamless transition that goes unnoticed to our customers is my number one goal. Personally, I am starting a new concept of 3PL centered around local artisan products and boutique customer experiences. Planning to launch in the third quarter of 2020!
